While working for a design group at YouTube UX, I spent some time imagining what the YouTube Music UI could look like. At the time of its release, it was the premiere product that could equally offer music and video. To save data, its key feature was the option of switching between two different modes: Video mode, which would take up more data, and audio mode, which would contintue to play just the audio, but would allow the user to save data.
I thought it could be interested to bring this feature up to the forefront, and use the entire video itself as the main “off/on switch.”
These motion mocks are proof-of-concepts illustrating how this idea could play out.
